Crowdfunding campaign looking for $350,000 to finance latest adventure title
The Oliver Twins have launched a new Kickstarter UK campaign to bring 20-year old adventure game series Dizzy back to life.
Developed at Blitz, the studio is looking for £350,000 during the next 28 days to fund the new game, Dizzy Returns.
The title is being designed for both iOS and PC, with additional platforms dependent on whether the campaign exceeds its funding target.
At the time of writing, the game has received £842 from 24 backers.
“Dizzy Returns is the game that Andrew and I have wanted to make for over twenty years”, said Blitz CEO Philip Oliver.
“We've always believed in creating games that are fun, challenging and rewarding and we've carried those principles through into everything that Blitz has created since. Dizzy encapsulates these ideals perfectly: quirky characters and story, interesting locations, challenging platforming, the satisfaction of a puzzle well-solved and exploring a colourful, fun world.”
He added: “Dizzy Returns is not about simply replacing the old; we want to create fantastic new Dizzy memories that will be looked back on in 20 years with the same warm feelings as the original series.“
It's great to see the oldies making a comeback. Also, nice to know that my "Crystal Kingdom Dizzy" isn't going to be the last in the series any more!

I'm not involved with it, I just wish the chap well.
Why do the Oliver Twins need funding for this project ?
when they are both multimillionaires running a games studio ?
they are milking the fanbase and nostalgia of the original games to fund this project, opposed to digging into their own very deep pockets
the supposed reason for Kickstarter being created was to help fund projects which needed the help to get made, not to allow multi-millionaires to avoid spending their own money...
I've got to agree with Bob.
I'm all for nostalgia but when a well established studio, fronted by two very wealthy developers won't support their own idea with their own money it smacks of greed.
I thought the premise of Kickstarter was to help those without access to funding, not indulge the whims of very wealthy egg-o-maniacs :)
Deep pockets, short arms...
Codemasters didnt pitch on Kickstarter for their last Dizzy game release for XBL
It's this sort of campaign that is damaging genuine projects that really are independent and in need of support.
Kick-Starter should put restrictions in place to stop already established studios using kick-starter.
