LGC12: Games only beaten by music and entertainment

Video must be at the heart of publishers’ modern marketing strategy, says Google.

Speaking at London Games Conference this evening, Google’s industry manager for entertainment Warren Mills revealed that video games is the second most popular category on YouTube. Which, Mills added, is in itself the second biggest search engine behind Google.

Music is the only category ahead of video games.

“Digital is changing the game,” said Mills.

I hope this is a big eye opener for DEVELOP. More videos, less text.

You know why? Because people care about people. I don't know who the author of this post is and even though it's one scroll away, I'm not checking. But if I watched a video as part of the article, I'd know it and much like Jonny Minkly, Geoff Keighley, Michael Patcher or any games developer you feature; the people in the video become 'celebrities' and viewers gain attachments to celebrities.

Develop is a fantastic website and covers some excellent topics. Isn't their a way to introduce more video content?
