Ambitious new developer Two Creature Studios looking to open second office in the south of England next year

Ex-Bioshock and Crackdown devs form new studio

Former Bioshock and Crackdown developers have founded a new studio in Dundee, Develop can reveal.

The new iOS-focused developer, Two Creature Studios, currently working on both iPad and iPhone titles, is headed by ex-BioShock 2 art director Richard Albon (pictured) as CEO, with former Realtime Worlds lead artist Tahir Rashid taking up the position of chief creative officer.

Despite a current focus on iOS platforms however, Albon said the studio hoped to expand to other mobile devices in future and was also looking into cross-platform development for the console market.

The new studio officially opened its doors earlier this month, and currently has a team of 16 developers working on its first iOS project Cuckoo Corner.

The developer has also signed on for two more iOS titles today for a third-party producer, with development due to begin next year, although it is unable to reveal the identity of the IP as of yet. Albon said the parallel development of internal and external projects "was a strong grounding" for the long-term stability of the new studio and its staff.

Albon also revealed the ambitious developer had plans to open a second studio next year in the south of England.

“At the moment, we are focusing on iOS platforms, expanding to the other mobile platforms next year,” he said.

“Toward the end of 2013, we intend to be ramping up on a very large scale mobile game that we have had in the works for some time. We have had decades as console and PC triple-A developers and we haven’t turned our back on that level of development; instead we intend to bring it to the mobile platform when the hardware is ready to do so.

“That time is almost with us, but not quite yet. Rest assured we will drive all our experience from making games like Crackdown and BioShock into this and all our titles.”

As well as Albon and Rashid, other staff to join the new studio include PR and marketing veteran Anita Haynes, who takes up the role of operations director looking after the running of the company, and ex-Darkside Animation dev Brian Nicolucci as lead animator.

The studio’s first title, Cuckoo Corner, will be released in March next year.
