ZSpace enables users to interact with simulations of real physical objects

Virtual holographic 3D tools come to Unity

Infinite Z, a technology provider that enables virtual holographic 3D imaging is now supporting the Unity engine.

Unity can be used by developers of serious games in conjunction with Infinite Z’s platform zSpace, which provides a visualisation that enables users to interact with the holographic simulations as if they were real physical objects.

Serious games are an evolving market and are used in the defence, education and healthcare industries, among others.

This licence agreement between Infinite Z and Unity gives game designers tools to increase realism within virtual simulations or visualisations.

To get developers started building their own Unity-based applications, Infinite Z is offering open source application code, zSpace Labs, allowing developers to easily port their application into zSpace.

“Infinite Z will open up a new era of innovation and creativity for developers of serious games, enabling them to truly utilise the power of the Unity gaming engine within a virtual holographic environment,” said David Helgason, CEO of Unity Technologies.

“We are excited to be a part of zSpace and an evolution in not just design, but the ultimate user experience.”

Paul Kellenberger, CEO of Infinite Z, added: “Infinite Z and Unity are a natural fit, as the innovative nature of the gaming engine mirrors our vision of the capabilities of zSpace as a revolutionary design platform.

“The addition of the Unity gaming engine to our application base will make zSpace an increasingly powerful tool, as the robust yet efficient nature of the software will empower designers to create immersive virtual experiences.”
