New model half the size of original console
Sony has confirmed the imminent launched of the rumored PlayStation 3 Super Slim edition at the Tokyo Game Show.
The new model will feature 12GB of flash memory, and will cost around €229.99.
The PS3 Super Slim will only be available in Europe however, with Asia and America getting the new 250GB edition valued at $269.99.
The 500GB edition meanwhile will be valued at $299.00 respectively. and will be released in the UK on September 28th.
The Super Slim is 25 per cent smaller than the PS3 Slim, and half the size of the original console.
A Small addition: The 250GB is not shipping in the EU. Instead, Europe is getting the 500GB for €299 (~£240) and a 12GB Flash Memory version for €229 (~£185).
The 12GB version contains enough space to be just about usable but it is expected most users will install their own 2.5" Hard Drive, or purchase a 250GB HDD from Sony themselves.
Personally, I suspect its to keep the keep the price low - particularly in more Eastern EU countries.
