Author and consultant steps in as non-executive director
UK indie studio Spilt Milk has welcomed prolific consultant and author Nicolas Lovell as a non-executive director and board member.
Lovell, behind industry blog GamesBrief and the book How to Publish a Game, has been brought on board to assist the studio in navigating 'the challenging seas that are the modern digital games market'.
Spilt Milk is the studio behind iOS hit Hard Lines, and is currently working on its latest project Smash the Block.
“Andrew has a refreshing approach to building a business," said Lovell of his decision to join the studio's board. "He’s open with the challenges that he faces, he wants to learn through doing, and he does it while keeping a sense of humour. I loved what he and Nicoll [Hunt] did with Hard Lines, and I’m really excited about the two new projects under development. I’m delighted to add Spilt Milk Studios to my portfolio of Black Swans.”
“Nicholas and I have a healthy respect for each other’s specific areas of expertise," added Andrew J Smith, Spilt Milk's founder and designer. "The business side of things has always been the toughest for me to cover in my day-to-day work and as such I’ve found Nicholas to be invaluable.
"Not just that though; he’s also clever, cunning and he is not even slightly precious or proud of his – well informed - opinions. We talk, we plan, we discuss, and I never get the impression he’s anything other than relishing the challenges we overcome together. Spilt Milk Studios is better off with him on board, and I’m incredibly excited about what the future holds.”
So this is an article to say that two people work there now?
Actually, I'm only part time!
But Spilt Milk has never just been one person. Hard Lines was co-created by Nicoll Hunt. We're working with talented artists and coders on Smash the Block and other things.
With new business models, and easier -than-ever ways IC reworking remotely, we can collaborate with many talented people across the world.
Now to release more games.
