THQ cans Guillermo del Toro's Insane

Rights for Lovecraftian horror game returned to sender

Guillermo del Toro's Insane has become the latest game cancelled by THQ as part of corporate restructure.

The game, described as a series of three triple-A Lovecraftian horror games, was in pre-production at Volition, but little had actually been seen of the project.

THQ has been on the back leg in recent months, and during today's quarterly earnings call company president Brian Rubin revealed that Insane had been cancelled as part of the attempt to create a more focused games pipeline.

The rights to the title have been returned to del Toro, who is best known for his work as a director of films such as Pan's Labyrinth.

It's spelled "del Toro", rather than "del Torro".
