Partnership with Roku results in first ever social cloud gaming service

Big Fish Unlimited brings social gaming to the cloud

Big Fish has released Big Fish Unlimited into the teeming waters of the cloud gaming ecosystem.

Less than a month after the first word of the social games maker’s forray into the cloud, the company has partnered with Roku to make the promise of social games streaming a reality.

Big Fish Unlimited marks the first time a cloud gaming service has targeted the social games.

"Big Fish Unlimited is a new way for customers to enjoy our games," said Paul Thelen, founder and CEO of Big Fish.

"While our downloadable PC and mobile games businesses are thriving, Big Fish Unlimited enables us to quickly reach new customers on new devices and in new territories."

By playing on the cloud, users have access to their games from a variety of devices.

From the developer’s perspective, this means games can reach a wider audience.

This audience will become even larger later this year when Big Fish Unlimited becomes available on the Roku streaming service.

"Customers are increasingly adopting connected devices, and they expect games to be instantly accessible and playable across those devices," said Will O’Brien, vice president and general manager of cloud gaming at Big Fish.

"Big Fish will launch Big Fish Unlimited on PC browsers and tablets this quarter."

The service launches with about a hundred games from the Big Fish catalogue of over 2,500 titles, with new titles added every week.

"Big Fish Unlimited is the type of service that will delight our customers," said Ed Lee, vice president of content acquisition at Roku. "With its top-quality content and variety of entertaining games that appeal to a mainstream audience, Big Fish Unlimited complements our other streaming offerings and we expect it to be a big hit in the Roku Channel Store."
