Sword-fighting Kickstarter surges to $150k in 2 days

Latest crowd-funding hit headed by American author Neil Stephenson

A new sword-fighting game has raised more than $150,000 within just two days of launching on Kickstarter.

The title, Clang, developed by US studio Subutai Coporation, has a funding target of $500,000.

Headed by American author Neil Stephenson, who has written books such as Snow Crash and The System of the World, the developer’s goal is to “produce a game prototype and toolkit that others can use to make fighting content of their own”.

Clang itself will be based on arena-style gameplay, with the studio aiming to reflect a realistic sword-fighting experience. The title will also use motion control instead of a typical gamepad.

The project’s video is presented by Neil Stephenson, as he walks through various scenes of comic sword training, whilst it also includes a cameo by Valve boss Gabe Newell as he crafts a new crowbar.

It's not a sword he's crafting. It's a crowbar. It's a HL3 joke. "these things take time"
