Production company to help keep IP rights with developers

3D Realms co-founder Scott Miller has created a new IP incubator production house, Radar Group, which aims to help developers keep part ownership of their original IP.

The group has been established by a cabal of industry veterans. Aside from MIller, who is acting as COO, is former FormGen and ARUSH co-founder Jim Perkins, former Relic producer Raphael van Lierop, and Dave Adams, ex-VP of strategic partnerships at Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment.

“We’re something our industry desperately needs,” said Scott Miller, Radar’s Chief Creative Officer. “Radar is teaming up with many of the industry’s top independent studios to help them create original IP in which they own a substantial ownership stake.

"Why is this important?  Because in today’s industry it’s nearly impossible, unless you’re Epic or Valve, to create original games and not give away full IP ownership to the publisher. Radar believes that creators should share ownership, and all of the long-term benefits that come from that.”

The group is currently working with Human Head on Prey 2,  with Recoil on a new title called Earth No More and with an unnamed developer on a game entitled Incarnate. It's also established a partnership with LA-based film production house Depth Entertainment, which is currently working on the Max Payne film.
