Crowdfunding project bursts into life after several quiet weeks
A Kickstarter campaign for an innovative game development tool has met its $100,000 target with just 45 hours to spare.
The crowdfunding program burst into life after several weeks of dwindling interest, suddenly drawing in $90,000 over six days as developers and game enthusiasts pitched in to fund the unique game creation tool.
At the time of going to press, the Code Hero Kickstarter sits at $110,000 – ten per cent over target.
Code Hero is a fully interactive game that uses the Unity engine to teach people to build their own creations. The first levels in the game will teach users the basics, while the final ‘level’ is to publish your own work.
The program, developed by Alex Peake (pictured, right), is currently in beta. Kickstarter funds will be used to finalise the project.

Is this another nail in the coffin for the games industry?
Do we really need another development tool when Unity allows the development of games quite easily to begin with.
Let people imagine that within the games industry we all drive Ferrari's and take long lunches before they join the industry, as I thought when I joined all them years ago.
Sadly after my first project I quickly discovered that the Bitmap Bro pictures were fake and that sweat on my brow wasn't while baking on a beach from the royalties I was paid but baking in the office in the small hours of the morning in mid summer pulling another build together for one of the masters so I could get paid.
Do we really need "wannabe" programmers/artist/audio pro's creating crap games to flood the market...and Joe Public wanting free games to play while dangerously teetering on the edge of the industry abyss.
I suppose time will tell and the 1% who decide to join the elite in the industry enjoy their time before burnout.
Good day to you all and good luck.
