'Our minds are completely and utterly blown' say creators following Best Editing award

Indie Game: The Movie wins Sundance accolade

Indie Game: The Movie has won the award for Best Editing at the Sundance Film Festival.

The accolade came in the World Cinema Documentary Competition at the Utah event, in which the film beat 11 other nominees to the award.

Creators James Swirsky and Lisanne Pajot said on their blog that their minds had been “completely and utterly blown” and that the editing was the most difficult aspect of the filmmaking process.

“We can not tell you how much this means to us and how completely and utterly our minds are blown,” reads the official movie blog.

“We shot over 300 hours of footage in making this film, and the edit was, by far, the most difficult aspect of the process. We couldn’t be more proud to receive this award.”

The film follows indie developers working on Super Meat Boy, FEZ and Braid, and documents their “emotional journey” from development to release.

The buzz around Indie Game: The Movie has been such that since premiering at Sundance, Cable network HBO has acquired the rights to run a half-hour drama series based on the lives of fictional indie devs.

The Social Network and Moneyball producer Scott Rudin is to manage the show if greenlit for production, according to film industry publication Deadline.
