Apple has removed Big Fish Games’ subscription service from its App Store, less than a week after being officially approved.
Released on November 18th, the service allowed customers to pay a set fee of $6.99 per month to get access to dozens of the publisher’s games on their iPhones or iPads.
Apple has since reversed the decision however, and the company has declined to comment on the reasons.
“We were notified that the app was removed,” Big Fish founder Paul Thelen told Bloomberg.
“We’re trying to follow up with Apple to try to figure out what happened.”
He added: “It took longer than usual to be approved. They needed to be convinced there’s a reason to charge customers every month.”
The removal highlights growing angst among many developers over Apple’s stringent review process for new apps, although the smartphone giants have insisted that this ensures quality for its users.
Seattle based Big Fish Games is a casual games publisher, producing games such as the Mystery Case Files series, Drawn, and Hidden Expedition.
Last year the firm reportedly netted over $140 million in sales.
