Trial offer as EA tries to build buzz around its Steam rival
EA has issued a discount code that allows Origin users in the UK to download Burnout Paradise for free.
Brits will need to install EA’s Origin program in order to claim Criterion’s critically acclaimed racing title.
The initiative, which is not available outside the UK, appears to be a trial run to gauge the benefits of offering free content.
Origin is a digital games platform for PC that its operator, EA, hopes will become a formidable competitor to Valve’s Steam.
Valve frequently experiments with free games and discount offers to stimulate activity on its games portal and lure in new customers.
Often, sales of Steam games will spike after their discount window closes – suggesting that otherwise dormant games can capture the market with a touch of skilled word-of-mouth marketing.
EA’s Burnout offer, which the company did not formally announce, has spread via discount aggregators such as Hot UK Deals.
How and when can we get the code ? Help would be much appreciated. Can seem to find anymore info on any of the official sites
While Origin may sound like a reasonable service but knowing EA, I would choose Steam over origin any time of the day.
Go to origin->go to burnout paradise ultimate toolbox->use promo code: PARADISE
->Tada
Thanks Thomas, you`re a legend !
I shall name my first child after you LOL :)
Can anyone else not get this downloaded? I'm stuck on the payment page, every time I click continue the page just refreshes.
Has it expired now? My mate managed to do it yesterday under my watchful eye but I couldn't sign into Origin. Today I managed to get in by resetting my password on the Origin webstore (didn't work in the client.. thanks EA..) but now it says the code is invalid..
