PlayStation Vita will not be able to play Flash games through its internet browser, a new report claims.
According to a 1Up profile of the upcoming handheld, Vita’s web browser “features support for cookies, JavaScript 1.7, and (part of) the HTML5 standard”.
Flash support is not part of the package, 1Up said, though the publication quoted games magazine Famitsu as claiming “there’s a very good chance this will be added in future firmware updates”.
Flash is one of the world’s most popular multimedia platforms and has become central to web browsing and online games.
Android smartphones and tablets utilise the tech, though Apple mobile devices have banned them. Nintendo’s 3DS browser does not support Flash.
