'It is hard to find the right partners or the right people to hire' says studio head Ken Levine

Bioshock Vita in pre-production, may be outsourced

Bioshock Vita is still in the “paper design stage”, Irrational Games head Ken Levine has said.

Despite announcing the game at Sony’s E3 press conference earlier this year to excited fans, Levine told Joystiq the studio’s resources are currently wrapped up in Bioshock: Infinite.

Levine mentioned possibility of outsourcing the title, but the studio would want to hire “extraordinary people” to make sure the game keeps up the quality that has seen the developer gain an average of 88% on Metacritic.

“To keep the quality level, I wish I could say it was easy, it just tends to be more time consuming," he said.

"It’s just hard to find the right partners or the right people to hire."

Despite not entering the production stage, Levine said Irrational wanted the title to be innovative and different from previous Bioshock outings.

“I’d rather do something that’s an experiment and that’s a little different and is unique for the franchise," he said.

The Vita version currently has no slated release date, whilst Bioshock: Infinite is due for release next year.
