Unity opens Stockholm office

Expansion to handle existing Unity games development to triple-A standard

Respected eponymous development hub operator Unity Technologies has announced the opening of a Stockholm studio to push existing games authored on Unity up to a triple-A standard.

The new office will be lead by existing Unity veterans Erik Hemming and Erland Köner, a senior software engineer and technical artist receptively. Unity has confirmed that it is currently hiring for position in the new studio.

“We are pleased to continue Unity Technologies’ growth with the opening of the Stockholm office in what is one of the centers of game development talent,” said Unity VP of engineering Steffen Toksvig.

"We are building a small office of a handful of really experienced people that can complement the awesomeness of Erik and Erland. I see this as a logical continuation of our effort to push the quality of Unity, by giving the work of the world’s best game developers to the Unity community."

Does this mean we'll still get charged 25% tax on top of our own tax in their asset store?

That stops me buying anything. I end up emailing the dev's directly to use paypal/checkout.

Kurt,

All asset store purchases run through Denmark. Customers in the EU pay standard Danish 25 VAT (sales tax) only. Customers outside of the EU (including USA) do not pay a cent of sales tax. Just like any other purchase made in the EU.

Exactly, Unity3D prices are way more expensive for all your european costumers. Not a nice thing for indie developers.
