Cloud gaming firm 'ready to work with anyone'
OnLive has held discussions with representatives of both Sony and Microsoft over a possible console collaboration for the service, an executive at the company has said.
OnLive already has some major publishing partners as well as agreements with key ISPs. Any possible tie-up with either Xbox 360 or PS3, however, would be its most significant development yet.
"Our controller is a hybrid between a PS3 controller and an Xbox controller. It's all compatible, it would just work," OnLive's VP of engineering Joe Bentley told CVG.
"There are OnLive guys chatting [Sony and MS], but we'll see where it goes. But it would absolutely work, we're ready to work with everybody," Bentley said.
Doubt it needs to be stated, but MS and Sony make their own hardware, and have purchased studios to develop for their hardware.
The idea that they'd allow their exclusive IP onto Onlive, is simply wishful thinking. Sony and MS both realize the exclusives are what drive hardware sales/interest.
Their exclusives haven't shown up on other systems yet, to assume they would now, is, as I said, wishful thinking.
OnLive is about 3 or 4 years too late with the tech they're bringing to the table.
