New features include geometry tessellation and parallax occlusion mapping

Frankfurt-based indie giants Crytek is days away from launching the DirectX 11 upgrade to its FPS blockbuster Crysis 2, new data shows.

The CryEngine 3-built game will son receive a free “DX11 Ultra Upgrade”, Crytek said in a statement on its website, which has since be deleted.

Members from games forum NeoGaf have since reposted the content from the deleted web page.

One forum post displayed images comparing the DX10 and DX11 versions of the game. Those images can be found below.

“The [Crysis 2] DX11 Ultra Upgrade is a free visual improvement add-on introducing Direct X11 support as well as a wealth of graphical improvements and performance optimisation for both DX11 and DX9 APIs,” Crytek said.

Great to see them using DX11 to such great effect. The bricks look so much more "bricky"./sarcasm

What w waste of effort.

So they upgraded their engine...it's a shame the texture's crap. The bricks don't match up on different sides of the wall!
