Molyneux: Fable demo 'a horrendous mistake'

Peter Molyneux goes to great length to stress game isn't an on-rails shooter

It's fair to say that the Fable: The Journey demo was far from a highlight of Microsoft's E3 2011 press demo.

The short snippet of the game demonstrated a sequence where a player was guided through the game world while shooting enemies with their hands.

In truth it was more than a little reminiscent of the Kinect levels from EA's Harry Potter game. Which, incidentally, were broken and slammed by critics.

Indeed, MCV has been less than kind about the Fable showing.

Speaking to OXM after the briefing, the game's lead developer Peter Molyneux apologised for the game's debut.

"I made an horrendous mistake on the press demo on taking out the navigation allowing players to move," he stated. "I'll state on record now that Fable: The Journey is definitely not on rails."

Kineck is a bad joke, and making games Kineck only is worse. I will definitely be boycotting this crap.

Kinect isn't a joke. It's a whole new step towards 3d interactions. Fable : The Journey is a seperate game, they're going to make a follow-up to the original series that focuses on the bloodline.

First of all; both of you two fail, the first guy made inexcusable grammar and spelling errors, and the second is a toad. Kinect swallows wang, we should be able to agree with that. No workable movement scheme seems possible without other peripherals and no, it's not a whole new step t-*mocking voice*mehmehmeh, it's yet another transitional step towards shitty casual games that will flood the market until we get a reasonable virtual reality device. The casual games won't stop there but the good ones will at least be back in the limelight. You declare bullshit? well watch that video of Microsoft's microtransaction filled social networking based shithole of a vision of the future of gaming; then get back to me.

To all three of you: my only case to make here is to point out rule 11 of the Internet: All of your carefully picked arguments can easily be ignored. I'm not gonna go into some stupid rant about what I think of the kinect, all I care about is that the game looks good and I'm gonna be loyal to all the fable games, haters can hate all they want!

i wish lionhead would leave alone the things that made the first two fables great. fable 3 was good, but a bit of a letdown in that it was not as good as the first two. I hope The Journey goes back to the original format of the first two, removing some of the rubbish from 3, such as the terrible expression system and the loss of leveling up in abilities. The fact that the customisation of the character was so toned down annoyed me aswell. Come on Lionhead dont let us down.
