New project being built in Canada, Sweden and China
Ubisoft is to revive the Far Cry series with a major new project underway at three separate studios.
Far Cry 3 is being built at Canadian mega-studio Ubisoft Montreal, as well as Ubisoft Shanghai and Swedish subsidiary Ubisoft Massive.
Like its predecessor, Far Cry 3 will be built with the Dunia engine, the Ubisoft-owned tech based on CryEngine 2.
“Far Cry 3 brings something new and unexpected, while still building upon the foundations of excellence that are inherent to the Far Cry brand,” said Dan Hay, producer at Ubisoft Montréal.
“Whether you’re already a fan of the Far Cry series or jumping into the franchise for the very first time, you’re going to be blown away by the gritty story and epic adventure we’re going to deliver.”

The Far Cry 3 project will be finished 2012.

As long as it still has an editor this should be a winner
it needs to have map editor, i spent hours and hours making maps in far cry 2
along with all the other players
It will be a real bummer if they drop the editor on PC and consoles. If they include the map editor, cave systems and multi level water would be nice. But even better, let us create spawn points for AI and allow us to play the map as a co-op survival mode with one or two mates. Imagine the endless fun you could have with that.
yeah or maybe zombis horde spawns to add to that as well....im a big fan of left for dead and would love to see it happen in far cry 3. with the lack of car is a joke to me....if the them your going for its working with what the fans exspect then it time to rethink, is this just another one of the developers big mistakes...what if the vehicles didnt appeare in the editer in the map editor are we all gunna start make close quarters maps and thats it....thats not freedome to the players.
I think the multiplayer would have been better if ubisoft monteral did the multi player insted of massive....sounds like out sourcing to me. Just like our government....figgures.
