They won't let you play Flash games because it allows people to play games any Nintendo or Apple won't get a look in on profits. A great shame, particulary as Flash is actually going from strength to strength (see Flash Molehill for instance!), despite the desires of those to bury it under a sea of claims about it being junk. Good to see Unity 3d supporting it in the future!

some body should send a message to nintendo to at least make a youtube app for it to be downloaded off of e-shop and it would just be a youtube player, not a web browser, only a special youtube player for 3ds, that would be awesome! netflix for 3ds is coming out soon, and if it can handle netflix, it could handle youtube

Flash would be awesome on the 3ds. In fact it would make the 3ds even better. I wish nintendo would make the youtube app for 3ds because they already have nintendo video and netflix. So if they can handle that, then why cant they handle flash. Plus it should be free because netflix and nintendo video are both free. So why shouldnt this be free. Its practically the same thing, So if nintendo does decide to make the youtube app or allow flash on a system update, it would probably boost the sale of the console itself. Plus I want to know why I couldnt download the last system update.

I'm onthe 3ds right now too. i also agree. nintendo is all about surveys to help gamers get more of what they want in order to maintain a large customer base. well why not open their ears to the millions pleading for some type of support for online videos?? lets not make the same mistake sony did and release a browser on a console that is practically useless! u cant even update posts on forums or even facebook! here's hoping nintendo does something about this that will truly launch 3DS into its self proclaimed title of 'most important gadget of 2011'

I mean I'd be willing to pay like $10 for flash support on my 3DS. The possibilities are absolutely limitless. I love Nintendo, but if they continue to ignore the wants of their customers, then they are going to go the way of the dinosaur.

Flash can support 3d video. (There ARE 3d YouTube videos.) if they want people to use 3d, then they need to connect them to 3d sources, and video on the 3DS won't hurt 3DS sales I'll bet.

I sincerely hope this article is wrong, and Nintendo is planning to release it in the future.

if we have no flash there is actually a chance there sales could plummet down a bit I mean, that could be pretty useful not just used for bordem like someone could send an email for their work or they might have to watch a video like a tutorial how to do something so they should have an update for flash or at least have it for people in the nintendo 3ds ambassador program because then not that many people will have flash if they are so worried about it

This is the EXACT reason why I won't buy a 3DS. Shoot yourself in the foot Nintendo. You need to realize that your customers are getting older and have more developed tastes. Giving us a browser that does nothing...the exact same nothing as your last system is not an upgrade. All you did was make enough changes you can force somebody to get a new system for your "new" games...which are all just remakes of old games anyhow. Get it together or I guess I'm a PSP guy now. *Sigh.*

i guess nintendo wants to prevent going over the top and start making mini laptops. i know it isn't really like that, but for me i just need it for internet. my work provides all my microsoft programs and all that, so do i really need that on mine? yes and no. but i think flash would make the system better. i agree with whatshisface up above me there. i bought a 3ds for 300 plus dollars then they drop the price to 150 and come out with red!? what is that?! i love the nintendo ds system but i could do without if this is the way nintendo is going to be.

im currently posting from my 3ds, according to nintendo of america hulu is also coming to the system, so far the 3ds can support netflix nintendo & video, if it can support hulu too it should be able to do games on facebook [apps] and youtube both requiring flash. they could make their own flash like the andriod has and limit the use to select things.

Why must the wii have youtube XL and the DS has nothing? I mean sure you can download those games anyway, but for movies? Why do we have net flix on both? but not a compatable youtube site? Thats really messed up. If we want free games illigally someone will always find a way, so what does it matter that you dont allow flash? flash would make alot more consumers buy into it.

Or atleast a Youtube App... But remember when Nintendo came out with that little movable light for your GBA? Rember how AWESOME it was to be able to play in the dark? And don't even get me STARTED on when the SP first came out! My point is is look at what happened to us! I am also on my 3DS. Now, what is the logic in banning something that would make these sell even more? Get Flash, get java, GET WITH THE PROGRAM.

If you have the technology to put flash on your browser, then I think many people will recognize that. Before I had my 3DS, I didn't even know it had internet because nobody said anything about it, most likely because it didn't have flash.
People these days use the internet so much, I mean, even my stone age parents are always nagging me to check my dang Facebook all the time. It's ridiculous how you wouldn't even think about adding flash, one of the most basic and essential parts of the internet. And if you don't implement it, who's going to stop us from using the computer? Which is also faster, and more convenient as well. Having a web browser that isn't constantly used by my family would be great, so please consider!
Also, please get rid of the shutter noise on the camera. It is REALLY annoying.

Wow... so many people on their 3DSes here, huh... I'm also on my 3ds now. And I was very disappointed when I tried using 3DS system transfer on my sis' dsi, then it said that I couldn't transfer flipnote cuz it wasn't on 3ds eShop. Who's up for a strike?

1. Calm down mate! Although you're right,we are lucky to have 3DSs, that doesn't mean we can't suggest ways to make them better!(I do agree with the rest of it though.

PSVita has Facebook app and many others apps, so, why cant Nintendo do it too? Today we have so many people that want not only to play games, but to, ya know, use internet anywhere with a handheld console. The 3DS rocks, but it sucks for quite alot of reasons.

1.) No Flash.

2.) No Uploading/Downloading non jpeg/jpg files.

3.) Unreliable jpg viewer, worse than DSi 'cuz it expects you to download.

4.) Load times, most notable on some wikis that don't even get to finish.

5.) Fucking shutter noise!!!

6.) No YouTube, not even HTML5 demo works. :(

7.) If jpg image is too big/small or uses some odd color, you cant even view it.

8.) Did I mention, JSNES doesn't load.

9.) Instead of L/R triggers that stop working over time, their way too fucking sensitive! Even looking at them makes me go back in browsing.

10.) Not common, it freezes randomly. Not often, but mildly irritating, because you lose your history.

Still, I preferred the 3DS over Sony's PS Vita, 3DS has less gimmicky games, most likley not going to have ten billion football games like sony does, and they made fucking Donkey Kong while sony made... uhhh... what the fuck? A dick ball, I ain't shitting you, it goes in your undies and, PS2 gets worst accessory ever. Sony has no on board memory for the Vita, WHY!!!!!

The Psvita has a Facebook app. (supports some kind of flash or something) The 3DS has much more ram than Vita but yet the Vita has more apps. The thing is that it can't handle flash (3DS) but we all know that didn't stop Apple they put quicktime..... on their systems. Nintendo should make there version of quicktime for 3DS just saying

-Nintendo Video is terrible [more than 4 videos please, and make 'em entertaining while you're at it]
-My red 3ds became a brick
-Browser is bad; it can't handle playing videos
-There will be more 3ds sales

no flipnote studio.
no flash.
no youtube, even though there's youtube for my wii.
L and R buttons brake down WAY too quickly.
demos can only be used for a limited ammount of times (looks over at DEMO Adventure Time: HIKWYSOG).
theres really no popular games on it (such as Assassins Creed III, Black Ops II, Minecraft, etc.)

HOVEVER there are also a lot of GOOD things about it.

3D (duh!)
mobile Facebook on browser.
DLC from the eShop.
Friend List (similar to that of Xbox, PS3, and Wii).
ability to temporarily suspend most software (except normal DS games).
the circle pad.
the номε button (sorry about the messed up "e").
video recording (in 3D).
Streetpass.
miis.
the apparently upcoming "Super Smash Bros. [Universe]" for 3DS (and Wii U).

Guys, you ARE being a little too hard on them, but it's not easy putting something like a YouTube app together! And i think they just might make that app you guys want, because YouTube doesn't show anything REAAAAALLLY bad. Also, if money's what they want, then so be it! But they're only going to get more money if they give us what we want! Notice how the 3DS' were 300 something bucks when they came out. NOW, they're 169.99! It's for a reason!!

I am also writing from my 3ds. I'm actually quite astonished that they would even create a system with a web browser that didn't recognize the flash system. Honestly, all I wanted to do is to watch k-dramas via Crunchyroll using my ds for like trips and stuff. Guess that's not happening.
