Games released during network outage 'will still be promoted when back online'
Sony has pledged to help developers who have lost business due to the ongoing PSN outage.
The PlayStation Network had been inaccessible to customers over the Easter period. Sony’s digital portal – which provides an online games store as well as multiplayer features – was blocked from users due to an “external intrusion”.
The block has stung studios that have released their digital games during this period.
News site IGN reports “at least one developer has confirmed Sony will be doing all it can to help out the developers affected by the PSN outage”.
Irish games studio Open Emotion was scheduled to launch its new digital game, Mad Blocker Alpha, on Friday – the third day of the PSN block.
But Open Emotion CEO Paddy Murphy said Sony has pledged to “help us retain [prominent placement on the PSN Store] for an extra few weeks.”
“Sony understands how something like this can affect a small dev studio like ours," Murphy added.
"As it's our first week in the US, I'm sure it will affect sales, but we have to understand that Sony wouldn't take down the entire PSN on a whim.
“As long as they can give us some marketing assistance when the PSN is back up, we are sure we will be able to recoup our potential losses."
you are so worried about your losses instead of our details and peoples hard earned cash well now i know for sure what sony are like!!! how come people with an xbox never have these problems?
Surprised there are not more comments for one. Mainly I would like to comment myself on the current psn issue. How does such a giant network get hacked to the point of all the reported 75 million customers personal information is at risk? I can see a small breach in security but at the reported level is hard to imagine. Is any of our information we share online safe? This should raise that question with every online consumer. Next time you log into your accounts online ask yourself who is getting access to this information. If Sony is vulnerable to hackers it is probably safe to say many other companies are too. I think I'll stick to person to person transactions for a while when purchasing goods and services while I try to figure out if it's safe to give my personal information out over the Internet. Be weary my fellow consumers your not as safe as these money hungry giant corporations want you to believe when buying there product or services online.
