Platform holder promises renewed focus on PC gaming
Windows and Xbox 360 platform holder Microsoft has promised that its PC service Games for Windows Live will "continue to get better".
Speaking to CVG, Microsoft's senior producer of interactive entertainment Kevin Unangst told CVG that the service "lacked fantastic games" and had endured what he called a "rocky start".
"The service started with the right intent, which was to bring Achievements, friends, multiplayer gaming and matchmaking in a really great way to PC," he explained. "I think because it was designed originally as a partner to the console service more than the PC service, we had a rocky start.
"We also didn't back it up with the most important thing, which is doing fantastic games to take advantage of the service. A network by itself isn't valuable – there needs to be great games to take advantage."

Microsoft can't do user friendly, they just don't know how to do it. I am a programmer and I actually needed customer support to MAKE IT WORK!
Games for Windows live is a bad Steam ripoff and I hate it when games force you to use it.
GfWL is nothing like Steam. It is like XBox Live.
Works great for those who have a .NET account.
@Wolfos either that is a slight overreaction or you're just a rubbish programmer... because anyone with half a brain can install and get GfWL up and running... it really is a matter of clicking a few buttons.
Actually I've had GFWL break several times. It fails to update and due to its insidious nature even a reinstall wont fix it.
For red faction Guerilla I had to type in the serial number into GFWL and then go through an update that would fail, then a login that would also fail, every time I wanted to play it.
I'm a programmer and I also couldn't get it to work. Its a crappy attempt to push xbox live on pc gamers.
I've had countless problems with it, and I do own a .net account that it would force me to resign back into, and re enter the damn serial several times for no reason. Thankfully no games I play right now use it, but I often had issues with GTA 4 (didn't help that it had to run through Steam, GFWL and Rockstars own social network too)
