GDC11: In pictures – Epic’s next-gen showcase

Is the gallery of pictures below the future of game graphics?

According to Epic Games, yes.

The Unreal Engine firm yesterday started showcasing the latest improvements to its popular technology at GDC yesterday, with an astounding demo showing what the firm thinks will be possible on ‘next-gen’ hardware.

Epic showcased work done by only three artists, one rigger, and a number of mocap artists, but running (right now at least) on three graphics cards.

"The whole idea behind this is to tell hardware developers and tell game developers this is what you should prepare for down the road," said Epic vice president Mark Rein.
