Swedish developer Starbreeze Studios has signed a long-term deal to use Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 3.
The studio has recently sought to hire more staff as development on its secret project ramps up.
Starbreeze said it has entered into a “multi-year, studio-wide license agreement” to use Unreal Engine 3.
“We evaluated several game engines in the market and came to the conclusion that Unreal Engine 3 is the solution that best fits our needs," said Starbreeze CEO Johan Kristiansson.
Starbreeze, famous for its Chronicles of Riddick games, had a quiet 2010 following its chart-topping year prior.
In March last year EA revealed it had cancelled one of two Starbreeze deals; the first being a Jason Bourne title.
The second, codenamed project Redlime, is thought to still be in production.
