New deal will 'ensure a continuous flow of Xperia Play games'
Game engine vendor Unity has signed an agreement with the latest player in the smartphone games space, Sony Ericsson.
In a statement released by Sony Ericsson, the firm said it is “partnering with Unity Technologies, using its award-winning development platform, to ensure a continuous flow of high quality 3D game titles” for its new PlayStation Phone.
That device, officially called Xperia Play, is to be released in March.
The finer details of the Unity agreement have not been revealed, though the mutual understanding between the two firms immediately sets it apart from Unity’s awkward relationship with Apple.
[Update: A Unity spokesperson has said Unity does not have an awkward relationship with Apple.]

Xperia Play will run on Google’s Android operating system, specifically Google Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).
Unity supports the Android OS as part of its ‘deploy anywhere strategy’.
The Unity 3 engine, often cited as one of the easiest platforms to develop with, can be used to create games on a multitude of platforms. Developers can make games for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, DS, PSP, iPhone, PC, Mac and Android using the tech.

Unity has a great relationship with Apple. If you are referring to the iOS 4.0 ToS from last summer, well, Apple relented and that's been a non-issue since at least September '10.
