VIDEO: Epic Games' Call Of Duty prank

Go here to watch what could be the world's first studio-made parody game

With a new record-breaking Call Of Duty game released every year, some would say the military shooter genre is overdue a spot of parody.

Epic Games’ subsidiary Chair Entertainment has responded to the call beautifully – not with a blog post or some ‘whacky’ cartoon, but an actual game built to mock Activision’s sacred cow.

Known as Duty Calls, the game jabs at Call Of Duty’s incomprehensible plot lines, obsession with cinematic vistas, and occasional moments of jingoism.

Perhaps most impressive is how Epic Games and Chair Entertainment threw the game together during final stages of developing Bulletstorm – an FPS billed as an antidote to the stagnated FPS genre.

I'm no fan boy for the COD series but it's certainly a damn site better than the crotch-grabbing potty-mouthed gears of war/bulletstorm.
At the very least the Cod franchise is attempting to immerse the player in a story/experience, (albeit far from plot hole free)Gears of war 2 itself killed off a major character and milked a redundant plot-line about Hulk#2's lost wife.

Will Bulletstorm really be any better?
Does poking fun at your own game and trivializing the experience rectify this?
Did it work for "Eat lead"?

If the only way for your game to succeed is by creating smear campaigns against your competitors....well...its just not professional is it?, its petty.

ChAIR Entertainment did not have a hand in creating the Duty Calls parody. It was developed by an outside studio on behalf of EA marketing. I work for Epic, and we love the Call of Duty games. Bulletstorm is steeped in humor, never taking itself too seriously. Thanks to those who have laughed along.
