German media firm challenges developers, publishing contract and advertising budget up for grabs

Computec launches browser game contest

Computec Media is giving games developers the chance to establish themselves on the browser gaming scene.

The German firm’s Make the Game competition gives studios the chance to win a publishing contract, a cash prize and a large advertising budget by developing an innovative new browser game. Computec will be investing up to one million euros in the best games.

The winners will be picked by a jury of five experts from the German games scene and announced at this year’s Gamescom trade fair in August. The games will be published in September and advertised in Computec’s various magazines and websites, with a potential audience of well over six million consumers.

Developers can register at www.makethegame.de, where they will find more information on entry requirements. Registration closes on April 15th and games must be completed by June 30th.

“There are more than 20,000 browser games on the web – but very few of these become a success because most games never even reach their target audience,” said Computec MD Hans Ippish.

“We want to provide a unique platform for the innovative developer scene in Germany with our Make the Game competition so that developers can present their products to millions of gamers.

“With the distinguished jury’s expertise and the large-scale advertising of the winning games in our far-reaching games magazines and on our websites, the Make the Game competition is sure to become a synonym for successful browser games.”
