Pace gathering on project, sources suggest, as dev reinforcements are called in

Modern Warfare 3 ‘in production at three studios’

Activision is tasking three of its studios with co-developing Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3, a news report has claimed.

The publisher has called on three of its own studios for the project: Series creator Infinity Ward, startup outfit Sledgehammer Games, and seasoned US studio Raven Software.

Sledgehammer, founded by ex-EA developers Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey, is said to have postponed its own project to help Infinity Ward develop the single-player portion of the game.

Raven too, which is supposedly tasked with the multiplayer portion of Modern Warfare 3, is thought to have held off one of its own projects.

The pace in which the project is now moving suggests that an announcement will be made this year, yet it is a matter of speculation if Modern Warfare 3 will be completed in time for Christmas.

The claims arise from an LA Times article, which cites alleged inside souces.

If the speculation is accurate, Modern Warfare 3 will be the first in the series developed after the high-profile departure of Jason West and Vince Zampella from Infinity Ward.

Nearly 40 developers left Infinity Ward after West and Zampella’s split.

Sledgehammer was thought to be working on a Call Of Duty “spin-off” before Activision apparently switched projects.
