'Overworked' Stuart Black joins City Interactive

New home for the Bodycount creative director; War shooter project underway

Stuart Black has joined London studio City Interactive following his unexpected departure from fellow UK developer Codemasters.

Black was on the lead creative team of Criterion’s 2006 FPS project, also named Black. Later he emerged at Codemasters, working on a new IP altogether – the FPS Bodycount.

Develop understands that Black’s departure from Codemasters was, though amicable, due to an unremitting workload that kept the creative designer in the office at unsociable hours.

Black left Codemasters before completion of the Bodycount project.

He joins City Interactive as creative director and will lead development on a new unannounced project.

According to a Gamasutra report, the new project will be “an exciting new story-driven WWII shooter that will emphasise high adventure in a genre that's become bogged down in reverence and historical accuracy.”

City Interactive recently became a licensee of Crytek's high-end engine, CryEngine 3.

Is this a new London studio? or will all the development work be outsourced to City's existing studios?

Read on City's site that Black describes it as a 'Boutique Design Studio'. Guess that means all the art work will be outsourced.
