THQ arms new tech in social game push

Group strikes key partnership with Joyent

Longstanding publisher THQ is making strides to compete in the social gaming space, having just struck and agreement with net-dev solutions group Joyent.

The firm, famous for its Red Faction franchise and a lucrative WWE deal, says its Joyent partnership “provides a key component of our social network strategy."

Mike Hogan, THQ’s vice president of online publishing, added: “Using Joyent technology, we've been able to create an environment that allows us to provide our studios a scalable platform for developing and launching social games.”

Joyent’s technology is said offers a boxed package of social game tools and services.

Its quick-start cloud solution and professional services “will enable THQ's developers to focus on game innovation rather than infrastructure deployment” the group said.
