Early bird deal on deadline for Games Invest event

Phil Harrison’s new VC firm to offer talk on Britain’s £2m game fund

A trade event focused on helping devs strike investment deals is fast approaching, with the deadline for early bird tickets just days away.

Games Invest 2010 takes place at the Eurogamer Expo on October 1st in London, and the deadline for a £35 early bird ticket ends Monday 6th September – after that the cost is £50

Games Invest 2010 is billed as an opportunity for small-to-medium-sized UK game companies in the UK to learn more about games investment, as well as network with investment firms that are also expected to attend.

Organised and sponsored by Screen Yorkshire and Game Republic, the event will see attendees from numerous corners of the financial sector – from Tenshi Ventures to Pembridge and 4iP

Meanwhile, London Venture Partners - the new game investment group formed by Phil Harrison, David Lau-Kee, David Gardner and Paul Heydon – will be in attendance. The firm will provide a talk on the new government-backed £2m fund for games prototypes.

Learning how to invest is not as difficult as we might think. We need some common sense, and a willingness to do some research. The first step is to do some research. Begin by reading some personal finance and investing books. Subscribe to some magazines devoted to the subject. Money magazine is an excellent source of common sense advice for the average person. The Internet is also a great source for information. There are many online sources for classes. Most of the classes for the average investor are free. Take advantage of any of these that we can.It might also be a good idea to make an appointment with a fee only advisor. This will cost money, as they charge an hourly rate. But, this can well be worth the expense.
