But the famed Dundee studio will still fight on
Dundee studio Realtime Worlds has initiated wide-ranging cuts across the company, the group has confirmed.
RTW said it has finished its consultation process which was initially announced back in July.
“The supporting infrastructure for a game inevitably changes once released,” read a statement from the firm.
“Those staff that couldn’t be redeployed to new projects in the Art, Audio, Coding, Design, Production, and QA departments have regrettably been made redundant.”
The group chose not to number the volume of layoffs at the studio, and did not confirm whether its next game, Project Myworld, would be axed.
It was said the project has thus far failed to secure a publishing deal.
Realtime Worlds suggested, however, that it will not look to sell on APB.
Develop has contacted studio manager Colin Macdonald for comment.
What a crock of s**t! The redundancies are nothing to do with reorganising the APB "infrastructure" after release. It's the guys on MyWorld who've been canned, all 60 of them. Nobody on the APB team has been made redundant.
EITHER - this is a statement by RTW management to try to make excuses about the redundancies, make themselves sound not so bad.
OR - somebody sent out the wrong press release and this is the one that shoudl go out next week, when we hear about the real cuts on APB.
Best of luck to all affected :-(
Well they have. Joshua Howard, APB's Exec Producer, has been let go.
FYI, further to Gary’s note, I believe the company’s hand has been forced in the US, and unfortunately this afternoon some of our team out in Boulder have just been let go today as well ☹

Not great news at all!
