Google seeks games manager

Google is currently seeking a “product management leader, games”, in a move suggesting the company is expanding their focus on casual and online gaming.

The successful applicant for the California-based position will be responsible for “developing Google’s games commerce product strategy and partnering to build and manage the business with a cross-functional team.”

In a telling requirement in applicants skills, Google state they are seeking someone with “experience building an online gaming business both on the web and on mobile devices.”

“Deep understanding of the game business and how to create hits,” is also required.

Former SCEA man Mark DeLoura was recently hired by Google as the firm’s developer advocate.

“I personally feel that Google hiring someone specifically to focus on games is a signal from the company that they recognise the growing importance of games as a medium,” DeLoura told Gamasutra at the time.
