inXile Entertainment crime romp cancelled as publisher confirms internal focus

Codemasters cans Heist

Codemasters has cancelled work on inXile Entertainment’s bank job-themed action game Heist, confirming that it plans to concentrate most of its efforts on internal development.

As reported by CVG, the publisher canned the project as it is apparently committed to ‘high quality titles’. Set in San Francisco in 1969, the game was originally slated for a late-2007 release.

A Codemasters spokesperson told CVG: "After a much extended development period, Heist has been terminated as a project and removed from our release schedule."

"Codemasters is focusing its future portfolio on high quality titles that will, in the majority, be developed and produced by our internal studios."

According to CVG, Codemasters has a number of high-profile game announcements confirmed for the coming months.

Californian studio inExile has created a number of games in recent years for web and iPhone, and most recently re-released 2004 title A Bard’s Tale on Steam.
