Kim Swift leaves Valve for Dark Void dev

Famed Portal team lead joins Airtight Games to head up new project

US independent developer Airtight Games has scored a major personnel coup by hiring famed young designer Kim Swift.

Best known for her work on Valve's Portal as team lead, Swift will join Airtight as project lead for a new, unnamed project.

According to Airtight, she will "build and lead a team in the development of games aimed at a more diverse audience".

“We are thrilled to work with Kim,” Jim Deal, President, Airtight Games, said.  “Her addition to the team represents a strategic move by Airtight Games into new and broader gaming markets.”

Swift was hired by Valve straight out of college to turn her fellow students' early prototype into Portal. She has since contributed to the likes of Left 4 Dead.

"I've learned so much and had some amazing experiences at Valve," Kim said. "But when I heard I had the opportunity to work on innovative titles with my friends over at Airtight, I couldn't pass it up."

Airtight is currently finishing up Dark Void for Capcom.

Oh Kim, wherefore art thou, Kim....

Erm, you don't know - she might be a right cow. She might not, but she might.

Or she may have taste. You'd be knackered then.

But I'm sure that comment will be a noteworthy highlight in her professional career.

Oh if only I could get a girl to see past my crippling insecurities and the fact that I never act but rather react to any situation, she'd see what a sweet man I am.

I'm actually starting to become embarrassed at the predictability of a female in the games industry having her looks commented on before anything else.

Ah yes, isn't it wonderful?
I like it more when they comment on someone who has a lot of pictures floating around and is certifiably pretty. There's the classic battle between 'I'd do her', and an equal amount of guys whose idea of a woman is based entirely on fiction who say that 'really, she's a bit fat'.

Ofcourse, when I say 'like' I.. uhm. I'm not sure what I mean. maybe it's that I feel my penis retract out of shame for my gender.
