Unity Technologies has announced that its user base has expanded to over 33,500 people in the past two weeks.
Prior to the announcement that Unity Indie would be renamed ‘Unity’ and made free, the company had approximately 13,000 users – which means that the number of customers has nearly tripled in two weeks.
The firm’s annual conference, Unite, also saw its biggest number of attendees in its three-year history, up 125 per cent on last year’s figures.
"Unite 2009 really showed us what big strides we had made during the last year," said Unity CEO David Helgason.
"The crowd was a wonderful cross-section of the community – from industry luminaries to indie developers – and the step we took to finally make Unity free was so logical; it remains our mission to take something as advanced as Unity and make it available to everyone."
