Acclaimed writer Garland and prized actor Serkis recruited for the Enslaved project

Ninja Theory enlists star writers for Enslaved

In a move likely to challenge the view that games are oblivious to the power of considered narrative, UK developer Ninja Theory has tapped up acclaimed writing talent for its new project, Enslaved.

A follow-up to the PS3 title Heavenly Sword, Enslaved is a post-apocalyptic action-adventure title for both the Xbox 360 and PS3.

The game’s narrative and dialogue will be crafted by Alex Garland, author of The Tesseract and The Beach, and a self-confessed game addict.

The new project will also be enriched with the versatile talents of prized actor/director/Gollum Andy Serkis, who will direct the game as well as portray the lead character of Monkey.

“Serkis is a major contributor to the character and script development,” read a company statement, “casting and directing for the title.”

Ninja Theory recently revealed it had partnered with publisher Namco Bandai for its new title.
