GRIN wiped off the face of the Earth?

Stockholm-based studio rumoured to be on the brink; two offices already closed

The European independent developer GRIN, once tipped for greatness after securing major contracts with Japanese publishers and Hollywood studios, could be on the verge of closure.

That's according to reports on the web, including a previously uncovered report in a Swedish newspaper that has since been corroborated by Gamasutra.

According to the report in IDG, the firm has closed its Barcelona and Gothenburg studios.

Plus, its Stockholm HQ is now facing reported financial difficulties.

'Employees have apparently been told not to show up for work, and the company may be undergoing some kind of closing or bankruptcy procedure,' Gamasutra says.

The firm had risen to sudden prominence in recent years thanks to signing big contracts to develop next-gen games based on the Bionic Commando franchise and Wanted and Terminator movie licences.

After the graphically great but, gameplay challenged bionic commando. I'm not really suprised by this news. I am saddened though, as Grin have made some great games in the past.
