Livingstone delivers Lara keynote at GCA

Industry veteran to discuss Lara’s evolution at GC Asia

Eidos life president Ken Livingstone is set to keynote the CG Asia Conference in Singapore.

Livingstone’s speech will address the evolution of videogames using Lara Croft as a focal point.

Organisers say his keynote will “demonstrate the value of creating original Intellectual Property”. However, there’s been no official implication that the alleged new Lara image will be part of Livingstone’s address.

The keynote will also offer how games can be used to generate additional revenue through licencing and merchandising.

“I am happy to share my knowledge and experience I have gained over the years at a conference that is a truly international platform for knowledge sharing and networking for the games industry for the entire Asia Pacific region," said Livingstone.

GC Asia takes place from Sep 17-20 in Singapore at the Suntec Centre.

So, Livingstone is going to 'demonstrate the value of creating original Intellectual Property' is he? I was on the original Tomb Raider team and I don't recall Livingstone having anything to do with creating any of the 'original Intellectual Property' that he obviously professes to be so expert on. When is the game industry going to get beyond its Emperor's New Clothes mentality and recognise and listen to the people who really do the creating, instead of the talk-the-talk self-publicists?
