Gamebryo adopts Xaitment AI

Emergent’s LightSpeed platform incorporates the XaitEngine to provide ‘all the tools you need’

Californian middleware group Emergent is bolstering its latest Gamebryo dev platform with the integration of Xaitment’s latest AI toolset.

The XaitEngine will be fully incorporated into the Gamebryo LightSpeed platform in a bid to give developers “all the tools they need to make games that break new ground in every field: graphics, content, player experience, genre and technology.”

Xaitment’s AI engine centres its tech on advanced AI, particularly in the fields of decision-making and behaviours. The group says the XaitEngine offers “highly complex simulated behaviours that exceed comparatively simple, reactive methods.”

John Austin, VP of partner programs at Emergent, said the move will enable its customer base to easily add AI solutions to their dev projects.

“Developers don’t want to take a risk on core technology,” he said, “they want to invest their resources in creating great gameplay and compelling content, but Emergent, along with our partners like Xaitment, provide that.”

The XaitEngine itself remains available as an individual, stand-alone product, while Xaitment stated that it will still be providing cheaper modules that can blend with other AI platforms.

“Game studios around the world have chosen the Gamebryo engine for its ability to enhance the creation of games at the highest standard”, said Xaitment CEO Dr. Andreas Gerber.

“We are excited to become part of that success story. Together with Emergent we are extending the benefits of Gamebryo LightSpeed by enabling an easy integration of high quality AI for behaviour modelling. The embedding of our XaitEngine into LightSpeed marks another important and expansive step for our customer and our company.”

Really? Gamebryo provides "all the tools you need"??? Nevermind that you have to license a bunch of other tools to actually build a game....

well Gamebryo may not have had it all, but LightSpeed is pretty remarkable from what I saw at GDC. Emergent might not make an AI solution, but they partner with the best and focus on what they do to do it well. I think it’s just a different business model, not something to take so binary and literally

I'm not familiar with Gamebryo but i did see it was #2 on the top ten game engines revealed per Develop...right after the new Unreal. So... Couldn't post a link but just search 'top 10 game engines revealed' and it brings you right to it.
