PCs become 3D-ready across Europe

Nvidia launches its stereoscopic 3D peripheral set across the UK, Holland and the Nordic region

Nvidia is embarking on an initial European launch of its famed stereoscopic 3D peripheral sets for the PC.

The 3D Vision package will consist of wireless glasses, a high-power IR emitter and a set of software programs that is said to apply a convincing, flicker-free, stereoscopic 3D experience to PCs.

In a press release sent out by the chipmaker, a number of developers had offered positive comments on the emerging technology.

Corey Rosemond, a marketing manager for Windows Gaming said: “By including support for previously released and upcoming Games for Windows titles, PC gamers can expect a new level of immersion in full stereoscopic 3D, and enjoy broad support for the hottest games.”
She added that “there’s never been a better time to be a PC gamer.”

A 3D Vision unit alone will be priced at around €159 and £129.99.

Though designed to work with monitors and TVs running at 120Hz and above, those tempted to buy should be aware that only a select number of PC monitors will be able to fully utilise the product.

This is why Nvidia is also launching a bundle package that includes a fully-compatible Samsung LCD monitor, priced together at €479 and £399. This bundle will also be available in the UK, Holland and across the Nordic region.
