Fog Studio's Dille on the seven deadly sins of running a development studio
As part of our ongoing focus on recruitment, today's published feature takes a look at staff management.
Fog Studio's CEO Ed Dille has detailed what he considers to be the seven deadly sins of running a games company. Dille covers several aspects of employment, from monitoring staff software use and assigning roles to motivating a workforce.
"Fear is a great motivator," explained Dille, "but usually not with positive results. Whether you are a publisher dealing with a developer or a developer dealing with an outsourcer, if you try to get what you need through fear and intimidation, the chances are very high that you are creating double agents amongst your studio.
"Don’t punish people for identifying problems and don’t be afraid to do so yourself. Praise that behaviour," advised the CEO.
