Denki's Gary Penn asks the industry "Are You Denki or Not?"
Casual games outfit Denki has announced that the first ‘winner’ of its unusual recruitment drive, DenkiOrNot.com, is David Thomson, who joins the firm as its ‘Number One Fan’ – something we think means PR manager.
The studio’s recruitment efforts are headed by a dedicated website, www.denkiornot.com, which asks applicants to pick which pictures they prefer from a range of 20, offers those whose selections match those of boss Gary Penn’s the chance to apply.
Develop's sister site CasualGaming.biz has the full story – click here to take a look.
The wierdest adverts I've seen for recruitment must be the awful ones for some company (so bad I've forgotten their name), which featured naked fat guys with their eyes blacked over to hide their identities, holding pigs outside some country shack and boasting about how great it is to work in the countryside. They used to run in Develop or MCV, or both, a while back... Apologies for forgetting their name, but someone must know who I'm talking about.
It was Pivotal. The images melted the eyes of many reasons, so they were pulled for health reasons ;)
By reasons, I meant readers.
in the sourcebook a couple of years ago there was an agency which just had a big hairy belly. It made people cry. Can't remember which one now, but that was flat out creepy (and WRONG!)
I remember kids being scared at that "Belly's Gonna Get You!" Reebok campaign a few years back, but on the whole that ad was awesome.
Weird? How dare you. Unusual perhaps, but certainly not peculiar. We're just blessed with active imaginations, that's all...
Oh and I've just been reminded that we've had more CVs sent in the last couple of weeks than we did in the whole of last year... Who's weird now?
OK Brian, you win ;)
Thanks Michael. I'd also like to shamelessly mention that we're updating denkiornot on a regular basis, so the choices are getting tougher. Seriously. Timmy Mallet is the latest addition. I wonder if he's Denki or not...?
