Factor 5 closed?

US independent continuing to suffer and will shut for good say reports

The Christmas period continues to be a trying time for one or two independent developers - and now a new report this week claims that US independent Factor 5 has closed.

According to a source speaking with IGN's Matt Cassamassina, the studio has shut its doors.

The developer, which worked on games such as Star Wars: Rogue Leader and PS3 game Lair - and was rumoured to be developing a Superman title for now-defunct publisher Brash - was just last week rumoured to have laid off a number of staff.

The comment printed at IGN reads: "We just learned from inside sources that developer Factor 5 has officially closed their doors as of today. That’s some pretty big news considering that those guys have been around for quite a while. It’s definitely a real shame! I hope that this information is helpful to you."

There is not however official confirmation of the reports yet - Factor 5 has not responded to Develop's request for a comment.

Yep, the Develop team is - we're posting an analysis of this (very disappointing) stuff very soon.
