Sony relaxes approvals process

Sony relaxes approvals process

Content approval abolished for PS2, creates single global approval process for PSN

SCEE's George Bain has announced sweeping changes to Sony Computer Entertainment's approvals process, reports GameDaily.

Speaking at the Casual Connect conference in Kiev, Bain announced that the firm has abolished the content approval process for PlayStation 2 titles, effectively making it "an open platform".

He also revealed that the firm's approvals process has been streamlined into a global system, meaning that games only have to be submitted through one website for approval rather than one for Europe, Japan and America. Further, once a game has been approved, any additional downloadable content will not need to go through the approval process, said Bain.
