Newspaper hopes Blow's platformer 'ignites a market for DIY games'
Almost everywhere you look, Jonathan Blow's ambitious Xbox Live Arcade platformer Braid is garnering praise. But one of those fans may surprise you: the notoriously game-hating Daily Mail.
The article, which can be read here, initially complains at the lack of 'hit' indie titles on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and WiiWare, but claims that Braid is the game to turn the tide with its 'intriguing' time-travel twist and 'beautiful artwork'.
But most intriguing is the piece's final line: "[Braid] is certainly a landmark in gaming - and if it ignites a market for DIY games that aren't sold on looks alone, so much the better."
Are the current-gen consoles' new marketplaces finally (and oxymoronically) giving indie titles the chance to reach the mainstream, or is Braid a peculiarity whose success could be hard for anyone else to emulate? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
