New organisation now open to more members, too
French games developers' trade association APOM has been renamed to SNVG (Syndicate National Video Game) after a unanimous vote by its members to 'transform' the organisation.
As part of the revamp the organisation is now open to more potential members, described as three different camps," active members, associates and sympathizers".
The organisation called the new name and structure a "professionalization of our movement".
Guillaume de Fondaumière, will retain his role as president of the new organisation.
The SNJV (in english best translated as France's National Video Game Organisation) will now accept direct subscriptions from all parties involved in video game production, in particular independent development studios, first party studios, publishers who are or aim at producing games in France. Besides its historical missions (defend the interests of French video game producers (amongst others obtain the now notorious "French 20% Tax Credit") the SNJV will act as a platform of dialogue between these parties, but also offer a variety of counseling services to its members.
A General Manager will be hired in the coming months. He will follow the directives of the board of directors and its elected President and work on a daily basis on these subjects.
I will serve as President of the SNJV on a purely voluntary basis until June 30th 2009. A new President will then be elected to pursue the objectives set during the last General Assembly.
