Florida studio to use Epic engine to make new "groundbreaking" FPS

Ignition Entertainment has licensed Epic's Unreal Engine 3 for a new FPS under development at its Flordia studios.

Described as a 'groundbreaking' new game, the title is a new IP for release next year which will 'bring something fresh and exciting to one of the industry’s core genres'.

"Epic’s Unreal Engine 3 is an extremely versatile engine," said Jeremy Stieglitz, game director and lead designer, Ignition Florida.

"So when deciding on technology for Ignition Florida's first next-generation video game, there was no questioning that Unreal Engine 3 is the way to go."

"Ignition Florida is pushing Unreal Engine 3 in a very exciting direction, especially in terms of environmental capabilities,” added Mark Rein, VP, Epic Games. “These guys have the chops to create some remarkable games, and we have complete faith in their technical and creative abilities."

It's gona suck since its from Jeremy Stieglitz. The Lead Designer of Monster Madness. The game was so bad that Artificial Studios shut down shortly after Monster Madness launched. Good luck Ignition. You'll need it.

That's not why Artificial Studios shutdown. They were a development company that created the Reality Engine and they were bought by Epic, and Epic did not want them to continue to license the game engine. Artificial Studios was primarily two individuals plus the artists, Tim Johnson and Jeremy Stieglitz. Tm Johnson went to work for Epic as part of the buy out and Jeremy spun off the game development into a separate studio with his art teams. I know this because I have spoken with Mark Rein about it and am also a Reality Engine licensee. I'm not the biggest fan of Jeremy either but at least get your facts straight.
